Joy of Magic
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. –Albert Einstein
When some magical occurrence happens and we see it, of course we feel Joy. Most things out there tend to bring me Joy. But magic is easy. It really brings me Joy. I don’t have to look for the joy in it. It just is. I’m not a pixie dust and fairy kind of person. But I do like fairies. And I think pixie dust is great. When I think of Magic, I think of unicorns, horses and elephants.

Magic Dust
I’ve learned to sprinkle pixie dust on my food when I pray. That is a good thing. Although I am forgetful about doing it. Sprinkling a magic dust over our food when we pray lends focus and ritual to something that we already know how to do. We are blessing our food and asking that it nourish our bodies.
We can also sprinkle people with our magic dust. It is a way to bless them. And wish them well. We can do this in person or afar. Magic has not boundaries or limitations of time and space.
When you sprinkle and bless another with magic dust. You are giving both you and the other person Joy. You are spreading Joy to the world. Of course, you could just do the same thing without any dust. The Power is in the blessing. The dust just scatters it and extends the focus of the blessing. You could call the dust joy dust. And then when you sprinkle it on another you would be sprinkling Joy on them.
When some magical occurrence happens and we see it, of course we feel Joy.
In my first book From Heartache to Joy I told the story of an experience I had with a shopping cart.
The Shopping Cart
“It was early spring, 2014, and I was pulling into a parking space at a grocery store in Rockford, Illinois. The last traces of slush and snow were disappearing into the drainage basins. I had escaped from my mom’s house to do her grocery shopping. I needed a break from taking care of her. I was frustrated about being told what to do, when to do it, and how to do everything.
I couldn’t pull all the way into the parking space because a grocery cart was in the way. I couldn’t back out because a car was pulling out behind me. I was stuck.
So, I waited. Then I got fierce and waved my invisible magic wand at the cart and yelled at it to move. “Move. Damn it!” It didn’t move. Great, I thought. My magic wand isn’t working. Some person could move it for me.
And right then a man walked by, grabbed the offending cart, and moved it out of the way. I was dumbfounded.
I quickly thanked the universe for answering my request and gave a little chuckle.
We think the universe should respond in a certain way. It always responds—but it responds in its own way.
The universe does have my back. My magic wand is working. Silly me, being hung up on how.”
We need to quit trying to determine how magic will show up and what it should look like. Magic has no boundaries. That is why it is called magic. We need only to enjoy it when it happens in our presence.
Techniques for creating Joy through magic
- Bless your food with a sprinkle of magic dust. Also do this with coffee or water.
- Bless other people and your family with magic dust. Do it with or without them being aware of it. Wish them well and give them Joy. You can also bless strangers on the street.
- Don’t forget to bless yourself with magic dust. Sprinkle it on yourself. Give yourself Joy.
